Understanding Your Dental Insurance in Edmonton

Figuring out yours shouldn't be on you to guess

“Covered under most plans” shows up throughout this site, and it’s worth explaining what that actually means. Dental insurance in Edmonton varies by provider and by plan.

If you’ve ever wondered, “does my insurance cover a filling?” you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common questions we hear, and the honest answer is: it depends on your plan, so we’ll find out for you rather than asking you to decode the fine print yourself.

What "covered under most plans" means in practice

Every insurance plan is a little different: different annual maximums, different percentages covered, different rules about what counts as preventive versus major work. That’s dental insurance coverage explained the way it should be, plainly, and specific to you. Rather than asking you to interpret your policy, our team checks your coverage directly and explains it back to you in plain language, before anything is booked.

Direct Billing

How does direct billing work?

We direct bill to all insurances, including private employer insurances (ex. Alberta Blue Cross, Sunlife, GroupSource, Canada Life, etc) as well as government insurances (LIHB, CDCP, and NIHB). We follow the Alberta Dental Association Fee Guide in order to help keep our costs as affordable as possible.

Either way, you’ll know exactly what to expect before your appointment, not after.

Your Coverage

Highly recommended treatments, other options, and your coverage

For anything we’ve recommended as a treatment, we’ll walk you through what your plan covers before you make your decision to book or wait, not after you’re already in the chair. You’ll never be guessing what a treatment will actually cost you out of pocket.

If you’re not sure what your plan covers, that’s a normal starting point, not something you need to have figured out before you call. We’ll ask the right questions and get you a real answer, usually before you’ve even booked your visit.
