Meet the Team

At Norwood, care starts with actually knowing the people behind it. Every person on this team brings something specific, not just a credential, but a way of putting people at ease. Get to know us here, then come meet us in person.

Dr. Dillan Patel

He/Him · Alberta Avenue & Inglewood

You’ll usually find Dr. Dillan trying a new restaurant, deep in a good book, or spending time with his wife, Dr. Emily, and their son. The couple met in Australia before packing their bags for Edmonton to build their careers and put down roots.

That same easygoing energy carries into the clinic. Dr. Dillan believes great dentistry starts with a good conversation, taking the time to listen and answer questions so patients feel informed and at ease, whether they’re working through dental anxiety or a treatment plan. He’s known around Norwood for his gentle nature and for building the kind of long-lasting relationships that make patients feel like more than an appointment.

Dr. Emily Shimbashi

She/Her · Alberta Avenue & Inglewood

Dr. Emily is a fan of musicals, cats, and Pokémon, and outside the clinic you’ll find her trying new restaurants, travelling, or settling in for a Netflix binge with her husband, Dr. Dillan, and their son. Born and raised in Edmonton, she earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta before heading to Australia for dental school, where she met Dr. Dillan.

Dentistry runs in the family: her mom is a hygienist, and she followed her grandfather into the profession. She started out as a dental assistant, which is where she discovered how much she loved helping patients feel comfortable and a little less nervous. Six years into her time at Norwood, she’s known for her calm energy and her genuine enjoyment of root canals and extractions.

RDA, Infection Control, RDA Team Lead

Paulyn Rosales

She/Her · Alberta Avenue & Inglewood

On a good day off, you’ll find Paulyn on a mountain, hiking with friends, or grabbing a matcha at her favourite coffee shop on Whyte Avenue. She’s been with Norwood for five years, splitting her time between both locations, where she leads infection control protocols and mentors our RDA team.

Paulyn was an anxious dental patient herself before she started here, and it shapes how she shows up for every patient in her chair. She wants people to know their feelings are valid, and that feeling nervous about a visit is completely normal. Her favourite part of the job is simple: getting to know her patients and being part of their oral health journey, alongside a team she genuinely loves working with.

Administration Supervisor

Amanda S

She/Her · Alberta Avenue & Inglewood

Amanda has been married to her husband for nine years, and together they’re raising four boys, a household she credits with sharpening her patience, her communication, and her ability to manage anything that comes her way. She brings that same steadiness to Norwood, where she’s spent five years overseeing invoicing, reconciliation, and administrative support across both locations.

Her team knows her for staying organized under pressure and keeping multiple priorities moving without dropping any of them. Whether it’s a scheduling snag or a billing question, Amanda is the person who sorts it out calmly and gets patients taken care of.

Team Lead RDH

Lisa D

She/Her · Alberta Avenue & Inglewood

Ask Lisa about her weekend, and you’ll hear about family time first, then baking, then a chocolate recommendation. She’s been part of the Norwood family since 2018, now leading the RDH team and setting the standard for hygiene care across the practice.

Flossing isn’t optional for Lisa, for patients or herself, and she brings that same discipline paired with warmth into every appointment. Exercise keeps her balanced outside of work, but her real soft spot is chocolate, which she’ll happily admit to enjoying more than she probably should.

Come say hello in person

The best way to get to know us is in person. We’re open seven days a week across our two Edmonton clinics, with evening appointments until 9 pm on weekdays at Alberta Avenue.
